Carlton have picked up GWS Giants midfielder Lachie Whitfield during the AFL trade period, with the deal confirmed on 13 October 2026. Five picks moved between the two clubs in the transaction.

Whitfield has been a loyal and consistent Giant over his career and is seen as one of the competition's more consistent midfielders. He brings plenty of experience to a Carlton midfield that has been building steadily in recent seasons.

His move to Carlton ranks among one of the notable trades of the 2026 period. The Giants will receive the five picks as compensation for losing a player who served the club well at the highest level.

For Carlton, landing a midfielder of Whitfield's calibre is a strong addition heading into the next campaign. The deal reflects the club's ambition as they look to contend in 2027.
